SMP Interact (Framework edition): free downloadable
key stage 3 medium-term planner

The Excel-based medium-term planner will save your department hours when
writing a scheme of work, a medium-term plan or any other planning document
that sets out learning objectives. It's a comprehensive course description that
goes through each book sequentially by unit and section, setting out learning
objectives in detail and giving numerical references to pertinent Framework
objectives.

How is it meant to be used?

Using only basic Excel skills, you can make a scheme of work or medium-term
plan by rearranging the course description to suit your department's needs,
incorporating your own activities and resources, and relating everything to your
department's own time line.

What else is it good for?

You can print it out so a full description of the course materials is always available
for reference; this is particularly useful when the department – or individual
members of it – are new to SMP Interact. If you want to locate a particular topic
(for example to find a simple introduction to it or extension work in books other
than those you normally use) you can use Excel's 'Find' facility to look for a word
or short phrase.

Download a zipped archive of separate Excel worksheets for each Book (These
files will be compatible with older versions of Excel.)

Download a single Excel workbook containing planners for all Books (see notes
below)

Downloading the single workbook on some PCs
You may need to right-click on the link and select Save Target As. If you are
asked for a network password, select Cancel and the file should download.
Alternatively if the file opens in a browser window you should be able to save
it as an Excel file.

Downloading the single workbook on older Macs
You may need to hold down the Control key while clicking on the link and then
select 'Download to Disk'. You may then need to open the file from within Excel.

If you encounter any difficulties, please contact the SMP by email and ask to be
sent copies of files as attachments.
